Can a Chiropractor help?

Posted by Mari Leckel

Did you know it can be beneficial to see a Chiropractor during and after pregnancy? If you have never been to one, it’s never too late to start! Here are some ways a chiropractor can help to ease some of the discomforts that accompany pregnancy:

Feeling some discomfort in your lower back?  This may be caused by Sciatica which is back pain caused by pressure on your sciatic nerve. One or two chiropractic adjustments could help relieve that pain.

Having trouble in the bathroom? All the fiber in the world is not helping you “go”? A quick adjustment could help get things moving smoothly again.

As time goes on your baby and belly are growing and sometimes you can experience the not so pleasant feeling of acid reflux.  And it doesn’t matter how many glasses of milk or antacids you take it just won’t ease up! Yes, your chiropractor may be able to help with that too.

Just keeping your body in alignment can help to turn a breech baby, make for a smooth labor and delivery and even aid in a caesarean section and the healing process that accompanies it all.

Did you know that chiropractors can safely work on newborns and children as well? These are some issues that can be corrected by a chiropractor after birth:

Wry Neck (positioning in the womb can cause it)

Breastfeeding latch issues

Acid Reflux

Constipation

Colic

Pseudo Torticollis

When looking for the right chiropractor for you or your child make sure they have the appropriate training for caring for women during pregnancy and young children. Chiropractors who have been trained in the Webster technique have learned how to care for the pregnant body. Many thanks to Dr. April Kosinski,DC of Woburn, Ma and Dr. Kenneth Gabriel, DC of Salem, NH for their input and expertise.
